England's Coach Tim Southee Unsure on The Ashes Participation
The bowler's most recent Test match for the Kiwis was versus England in the final month of 2024.
England's bowling consultant Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be at the forthcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The former Kiwi seamer is expected to be available for the opening match because of his involvement in the ILT20 tournament, which begins on 2 December in the UAE.
Southee, aged 36, took up a position as England's pace bowling advisor in the summer after taking 391 wickets in 107 Test matches for the Kiwis.
Speaking as England's team for the opening of three Twenty20 games against New Zealand was named, he said of his availability: "We are still evaluating that at the moment.
"We'll see what happens over the next little while."
England pace icon Broad had declared the Australia team as their "weakest squad since 2010", but Southee was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the series, which begins on 21 November.
"I don't think there's ever a poor Australian cricket team," Southee said.
"Our focus is squarely on our own objectives. I think the caliber of [the English] team that's heading out to Australia is brilliant.
"It should be an absolute cracker, that series. Not just [are|do] fans from both nations looking forward to it, I think the entire cricketing community is."
However, prior to England travel to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face the Kiwis in the city of Christchurch on Saturday.
