Grief as Beloved South African DJ Shot Dead in Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country struggling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the forty-year-old media personality was approached by a trio of assailants, with one shot at him before escaping on foot.
The motive behind the incident remains unclear and no one has been arrested have taken place, as per the official statement.
How It Happened
Authorities revealed that Stock was targeted as he was departing from a building near the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the site managing the implementation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unknown people, as per local media.
"The report indicates the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before fleeing the scene on foot," a police statement confirmed.
Surveillance tape showed a man with dreadlocks and dressed in what resembled a security uniform firing shots on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but succumbed to his injuries across the street.
Officials noted that Stock had an weapon on his person and no items were stolen during the assault.
Important clues, like spent shells, were found at the location.
Appeal for Witnesses
Officials are asking members of the public who may have witnessed the attack to contact them.
"We know they traveled on foot after the shooting, and police have been following their trail to determine their location," added an official.

His sister, Nicole Stock, stated the relatives are devastated to understand the tragedy.
"I am devastated. I don't have words," she stated.
"We know he was a champion for numerous individuals. He addressed issues courageously about issues not many people were prepared to tackle. This is a profound tragedy."
She appealed to the community to avoid sharing disturbing footage from the scene, noting this was an incredibly difficult time, particularly for Stock's children.
