Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
