Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's understandable for doubts to be raised about his position after another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in 12 games, marking the team's worst streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received plenty of backing from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to turn it around and secure a win naturally but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this match yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Problems and Player Reaction

The manager highlighted known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a spell like this with performances like these.”

Jones concluded, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always compete.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to its rightful place, prove again what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
