The Renowned Musician Calls On Public Help to Send Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project hopes to provide aid to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”
Powerful Theme of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.
“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup
The song was recorded after a major charity concert held in late summer. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the rendition was cut from the show due to the event running long.
The diverse array of artists appearing on Lullaby encompasses a selection of acclaimed names from the industry. All participated in the earlier concert, which managed to collect a significant sum for charitable causes.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was crafted by a team of producers and composers. The single showcases a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.
The team running the campaign have clarified that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.
“We haven't set a specific target,” a figure said. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The context in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of property described as destroyed or damaged.
“Given that reality, a handful of millions won't make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from later in the month.
